| NWWP 2016 RAISED FUNDS TO HELP THE QUEEN ELIZABETH ACADEMY (QEA) IN TANZANIA, WITH THEIR GOAL OF SELF SUSTAINABILITY
RECIPIENT ORGANIZATION: MAMA HOPE

For its third worldwide celebration NegusWorld wanted to focus on helping a community within the African continent.

We partnered with Mama Hope - a nonprofit that trains impact entrepreneurs from around the world - and connected with Kilines Elizabeth Sekwiha the founder of the Queen Elizabeth Academy (QEA) in Tanzania.
The school was named after its founder who was born and brought up in the village of Mlali in rural central Tanzania.
Kilines is a teacher and the driving force behind QEA.
The Queen Elizabeth Academy began in 2007 as a feeding program for children in Mlali.
Kilines was then studying for a Master's degree in Dar es Salaam, and used her own student allowance to feed the children. It soon became clear, however, that the children not only needed food, but education too, and Kilines enlisted the help of her family to begin teaching them basic reading and writing skills. Since then, the school has grown and grown, thanks to the tenacity and dedication of Kilines, her family, and a group of local change-makers.
All worked hard to provide quality education to the children, but also on the many projects that will ensure the school’s long term sustainability. The team does not want to be reliant on outside funding forever, but is developing innovative, local ways of funding the work of the school.

Proceeds from the event will help the school with its ultimate goal of sustainably by providing a place where all children, no matter their circumstances, can access quality education, feel empowered and transform their society as a result.
